Double Play is an add-on game that was initially launched in 13 states in August 2021, and has expanded considerably over the past five years.

It gives your numbers an extra chance of winning. All you need to do is select the Double Play option on your playslip and pay an additional $1, then you are entered into the Double Play draw that takes place alongside the main draw.

Double Play offers a fixed jackpot of $10 million in every draw, plus eight other ways to win. The winning requirements for each prize tier are exactly the same as the main draw, and the payouts are actually higher in Double Play for many of the categories. If you’re lucky, you can even win in the main draw and Double Play on the same night.

Double Play was made available in Arizona ahead of the Powerball drawing on Monday June 15. Hundreds of players from the Grand Canyon State picked up prizes.

New York joined Double Play on June 2, ahead of the drawing on June 3. There have already been thousands of Double Play winners across the Empire State.

To celebrate the launch of Double Play, the NY Lottery is running a promotion all the way through to July 29, where anyone buying a regular Powerball ticket gets a chance to receive a free Powerball ticket with Double Play.

The promotion is called ‘Power Wednesdays’ as you have to purchase a ticket on a Wednesday to be eligible. The free $3 tickets are awarded at random at the time of purchase, and around 650,000 are set to be given away in total.

Jackpots on the Rise

It has been a year of regular jackpot wins in Powerball and Mega Millions, but three months have now passed since the last time that someone landed the top Mega Millions prize. The jackpot has built back up to $452 million.

Powerball is also up to $283 million following a run of 19 draws without a winner, setting up the prospect of an exciting summer for lottery fans.

Keep an eye out for the latest results after every draw. Powerball is drawn on Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays, while Mega Millions draw days are Tuesday and Friday.
