What is Powerball SC?
Powerball SC is a multi-jurisdictional lottery game available to play in South Carolina and operated by the South Carolina Education Lottery.
Players pick 5 numbers from 1-69 for the white balls and a red powerball from 1-26. Players must match at least 3 out of 5 of the white balls in order to win a prize and are free to choose any number they wish.
Tickets for the base game cost $2 with a further $1 for the Power Play option to increase non-jackpot prizes.
The main Powerball jackpot starts at $20 million.
Who operates Powerball in South Carolina?
Powerball in South Carolina is run by the South Carolina Education Lottery. It was established after residents voted in favor of a State lottery in November 2001 with a 54 percent majority.
Since its establishment, South Carolina’s Education Lottery has generated average annual revenues of over $300 million from ticket sales and unclaimed prizes.
The SCEL reported its second best ever results for FY22, generating over $2.25 billion in ticket sales. As a result, it has subsequently transferred over $550 million for educational purposes.

In June 2022, a South Carolina resident insisted he had a proven lottery strategy that he learned from a TV show. After only 7 weeks, he matched all five white ball numbers on a single ticket to earn him a $50,000 win. This win was doubled to $100,000 after he'd spent an extra dollar on Power Play.
