What is the multiplier?
Most Mega Millions players will have noticed a multiplier that is added upon purchasing a ticket. But what is this multiplier option and how does it work? Read on for all the answers about this exciting Mega Millions feature that could boost your winnings by up to ten times.
The multiplier is a feature of Mega Millions that is instantly applied to every player's ticket. As the name suggests, it multiplies all prizes you win, depending on the multiplier you receive.
Each player will receive a different multiplier amount, either 2X, 3X, 4X, 5X or 10X. Any non-jackpot prizes you win are multiplied by this digit. Multiplier replaced the Megaplier option in April 2025 which could be added to your Mega Millions ticket for an extra $1.00 per play. This was an additional add-on rather than something that was instantly added to all Mega Millions tickets.
