Powerball Jackpot Surges Past $800 Million

Less than three months after a $1 billion payout in California, the Powerball jackpot is rapidly closing in on ten figures once again. The grand prize has already surged past $800 million.

There was a chance to win $793 million in the drawing on Monday September 25. Nobody landed the top prize, although four players - three from Florida and one from Oregon - matched all five white balls without the Powerball to become millionaires.

The winning numbers were 10, 12, 22, 36 and 50, with a Powerball of 4. Go to the Payouts page to  find out how many prizes were won in each category, plus details of the Double Play result.

Fourth Biggest Jackpot Ever

The jackpot is now the fourth-largest of all time, slotting into the list behind the $1.08 billion prize that was won earlier in the summer on July 19. The Californian ticket holder from that drawing has yet to come forward to claim their money.

The largest jackpot of all time also came within the last year, and was another Californian success. Back in November 2022, Edwin Castro picked up a Powerball entry worth $2.04 billion from a gas station in Altadena to become the biggest winner of any lottery prize in history.

For many years, the Powerball record had been $1.58 billion. Three lucky winners split that gigantic jackpot in January 2016. Go to the Biggest Powerball Jackpots page to find out more.

The current jackpot could soon climb into the top three, although players in all 48 participating jurisdictions will be hoping to take home the top prize at the earliest opportunity.

If there is a single winner on Wednesday, they will be able to choose between taking the estimated $835 million as an annuity or the cash option of $390.4 million.

Mega Millions Also On The Rise

In a year of huge jackpots, Mega Millions has also seen a couple of billionaires, including the record $1.6 billion win in Florida on August 8.

Remarkably, there was another Florida winner just a week later, and since then the Mega Millions jackpot has climbed past $200 million.

Mega Millions is played every Tuesday and Friday, while Powerball drawings take place on Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays. Make sure not to miss out on the chance to win, then check the numbers afterwards to find out if you have been lucky.
