$1.7 Billion Powerball Jackpot Won by Texas and Missouri Ticket Holders
The seemingly impossible happened on Saturday night. The $1.7 billion Powerball jackpot has been won by not one but two ticket holders, making this the second highest Powerball Jackpot win of all time.
This knocks the next jackpot prize down to a still staggering $20 million. That's an enormous amount of money, so don’t let the result stop you from taking part!
The Powerball Jackpot Draw
The draw occurred on Saturday September 6th 2025 at 10:59 PM (Eastern Time) and the winning numbers were 11, 23, 44, 61 and 62 with a Powerball of 17, and a 2X Power Play.
After 41 previous Powerball draws going back to late May (when the last big draw was won), lottery fans have been eager to see what happens in the next draw, and whether their next ticket could be the golden one. For two lucky individuals and several other smaller winning ticket holders, this became a reality.
So far, we know virtually nothing about the individual winners as they have yet to come forward, but we expect more information in the future.
What We Know About The Winning Tickets
The winning tickets were bought in Texas and Missouri, and the winners will split the prize earnings. Under different state tax laws – Texas has no state tax on lottery prizes, whereas Missouri has a 4% withholding – they will be bringing home different sums of money.
On top of that, federal taxes will have an impact on the total take-home, as will the winners’ choice of 30 years of annuity payments or the one-time lump sum. The prizes are worth $893.7 million before taxes, or $410.3 million if they choose the cash option.
The winning Texas ticket was bought in Fredericksburg with player-chosen numbers rather than randomly generated numbers; the player bought their ticket at Big’s 103 at 11905 E. U.S. Highway 290. The lottery player managed to match all six numbers including the Powerball 17.
We know less about the Missouri ticket, but more information is due within 72 hours of the drawing in accordance with Missouri Lottery procedure.
Three other Missouri Lottery players won $50,000 each in the drawing by matching four of the five white-ball numbers and the Powerball.
Three second-tier Powerball winners also bought tickets in the Lone Star Sate, including a ticket worth $2 million sold in Tyler and two tickets worth $1 million each purchased in Austin and Midlothian.

What Happens Now?
The winners have 180 days to claim their winnings before their tickets expire, and it’s hard to imagine them missing that boat. They are also advised to seek financial and legal guidance before coming forward to make their claims. This is for several reasons, including protection of privacy and safety, handling tax implications, estate planning and asset protection, and handling navigating the general financial pitfalls that come with life-altering winnings.
Take Part In Future Powerball Jackpot Draws
