Jackpot-Winning Powerball Ticket Sold in Delaware: $230.8 Million!
One incredibly lucky Powerball player (or players) in Delaware has landed the third jackpot of 2026, worth over $230 million, on the Monday night drawing. Although it will have been a normal-enough Easter weekend for the winner, the next one will probably be anything but!
Winning Number Breakdown
The Powerball numbers for Monday, April 6 were 7-24-37-42-57, Powerball-5. The Power Play multiplier was only 2X, but it still boosted some prizes significantly, such as the $2,000,000 Match-5 prize won in Texas, just missing the Powerball number.
The star of the show was, of course, the jackpot, which was won in Delaware. Only one ticket sold managed to match all of the winning numbers, so unless the winner is part of a lottery syndicate, they'll be able to keep the whole $230.8 million annuity, or $104.9 million cash lump-sum, for themselves.
New Record Set!
Despite being a truly vast sum of money, $230.8 million isn't usually anything to write home about for a Powerball jackpot. However, this win sets a new record, as it's the largest prize ever won in Delaware!
The previous record was set all the way back in October 2004, when a syndicate of 33 printing company workers in Seaford shared a $214.7 million jackpot. They each took home roughly $3.5 million before taxes, after the group elected to take the lump-sum prize worth $116 million.
If you adjust for inflation, the 2004 jackpot would be worth around $370 million in today's dollars – substantially bigger than the recent win, but inflation isn't typically taken into consideration when ranking jackpots by size.
Winner's Next Steps
All that's left now is for the winner to claim their prize. In Delaware, winners get a generous 1-year period, starting at the date of the draw, in which to claim their prize. If they don't come forward within this timeframe, the ticket will expire and the prize can no longer be claimed.
It's possible we won't find out any of the winner's details, since Delaware allows lottery winners to remain anonymous. However there's always the possibility of them going public, and even if they don’t, the Delaware Lottery may publish some anonymous winner statements or stories.
Playing Powerball
Since the jackpot has been won, it's back to its starting value of $20 million. From now until it reaches $150 million, the elusive 10X Power Play multiplier will be available, making it possible to win half-a-million dollars by matching just four main numbers plus the Powerball.
If that's not enticing enough, the Mega Millions jackpot is valued at around $100 million. In many states, it's possible to participate in both of these lotteries online; head to our Tickets Page for more information.
