A lot has happened over the past few months - Donald Trump was elected president for a second time, the Los Angeles Dodgers triumphed in the World Series - but something that hasn’t been won since September 10th has been the Mega Millions jackpot.

It has grown all the way from its starting value of $20 million to more than $1 billion, setting up a series of exciting draws over the holiday season.

Friday night provided a fitting climax to the jackpot run, as the winning numbers 3, 7, 37, 49 and 55, with a Mega Ball of 6, were drawn at the studios of WSB-TV in Atlanta, Georgia. It was a special night for all the players who picked up big prizes, but in particular for the Californian jackpot winner.

The lucky ticket holder now just has to claim their prize, and they have one year to come forward. It is the fifth-largest jackpot in Mega Millions history.

A few more rolls of the jackpot would have seen it reach record territory, as ticket sales surge the higher it gets. Instead, the biggest payout of all time remains the $1.602 billion prize that went to Saltines Holdings, LLC of Florida.

The jackpot will now start again at $20 million for the next draw. You can view the latest winning numbers every Tuesday and Friday night.
