Powerball Reaches $1.3 Billion in Labor Day Draw and Still No Winner

Labor Day marks the 40th Powerball draw without a winner since May, leaving lottery fans eager to enter the prize draw.

Monday night drew numbers 8, 23, 25, 40 and 53 as the five main white numbers. The numbers were matched by 12 players across the U.S. Two of these participants with exact matches received $2 million as they had added Power Play. Across the U.S., more than 4.5 million ticket holders banked prizes, including more than 900,000 who had added Power Play and had their payout tripled as the multiplier selected for the draw was x3.

However, lottery fans missed out on the jackpot as the draw revealed a red Powerball of 5, and nobody matched it alongside all the main numbers.

Chasing the unclaimed prize money, players have propelled the total jackpot prize up to a projected $1.3 billion via new ticket purchases. The enormous prize can be paid to the lucky winner over a course of 30 years or awarded in a lump sum worth $589 million (before taxes).

The total Powerball prize edges closer to the largest ever win in Powerball history. The last win close to this size was awarded to Cheng “Charlie” Saephan, Duanpen Saephan and Laiza Chao of Oregon, who won the life-changing sum of 1.325 billion in 2024 –a testament to the lottery’s potential.
